Three people died and five were
badly injured in brawl following a league match between Persija Jakarta and
Persib Bandung at Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Jakarta on Sunday.
One of the deceased victims has been identified as Lazuardi, who was reportedly wearing a Persib jersey — the identity of the other two victims has not yet been made public.
Witnesses told police that Lazuardi was found dead at the East Timur Senayan parking lot.
Rikwanto said the police had applied standard operating procedures to secure the match. “There were 1,524 personnel at the game,” he said. “The crime scene location was actually in a [police] patrol way, but there were no patrol officers there at that time.”
Still, Rikwanto said police will beef up security for future matches.
“[We will also] conduct meetings between the two clubs and see if we need to divert games [to other locations],” Rikwanto said.
